Fatehpur Sikri is a historical city in the Agra District of Uttar Pradesh, India. It was founded in the 16th century by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1569 and served as the capital of the Mughal Empire for about 14 years. The city was abandoned in 1585, likely due to a shortage of water.

The architecture of Fatehpur Sikri reflects a blend of various regional and religious styles, including Persian and Indian elements. The city is known for its well-preserved red sandstone buildings, which include palaces, courtyards, mosques, and other structures. Notable among these is the Buland Darwaza, a grand gateway that commemorates Akbar's conquest of Gujarat.

The Jama Masjid in Fatehpur Sikri is one of the largest mosques in India and a prime example of Mughal architecture. The city also houses the Tomb of Salim Chishti, the renowned Sufi saint whose blessings were believed to have playDespite its short-lived existence, Fatehpur Sikri remains a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts tourists and history enthusiasts from around the world.
